Progress week 7: Wireless Module

For the time being, we are trying to look for the best module for wireless transmission to apply in our project. We just found out from our literature survey about one wireless communication technology which name as Zigbee. The good thing about Zigbee is that it is low power and has a wider range of communication compared to the popular Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies. In addition, it can supports more nodes which is really good for our design project. We have made the survey in two local companies which are Cytron Technologies and Bizchip, the price is about RM 155. Considering about the price, we have to think again is it possible to use this wireless module. We try to look for another type of wireless module which is cheaper and then we will decide which wireless module we want to use.

This is the picture of one example of Zigbee wireless module name as XBee produced by Cytron Technologies. Xbee is a tranceiver, meaning that it has dual function, as a transmitter and as a receiver. If we are going to use this XBee, meaning that we have to buy two units, one for transmitter and one for receiver.
